Next Steps
1. Launch of Ekosetiawangsa
Ekosetiawangsa will be launched by YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad on 23 Jun 2024 at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa. The launch is in conjunction to the Karnival Alam Kita, hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES).
During Ekosetiawangsa launch, cooperation with strategic partners will be formalised through the exchange of documents on Letter of Intent for Collaboration with Strategic Partners
2. Develop & Launch EkoSetiawangsa Portal
- ekosetiawangsa.my will be launched on 23 Jun 2024.
- The web portal serve as a one-stop centre for all things Ekosetiawangsa that is easy for the community to obtain up to date information.
- Collate all initiatives that are happening in Setiawangsa by all Partners and Stakeholders.
- Can potentially include web applications such as
- Home carbon footprint calculator;
- Community initiative recommendation with the ability to up-vote supported recommendations;
- Local stored news / promotions / discounts.
3. Formulate EkoSetiawangsa Sustainability Action Plan
- A simple and easy to understand 5 – 10 page plan that outlines the key initiatives that will be carried out within the next 3 – 5 years
- It will cover key areas such as energy, water, waste, mobility and greenery such as plans for recycling collection centres, cycling lanes, pedestrian walkways, urban gardens, energy efficiency and solar PV initiatives, tree planting spots, etc.
- Develop in collaboration with the community to encourage ownership, buy-in and a sense of responsibility
4. Register Setiawangsa in LCC2030C
- DBKL to participate in the LCC2030C program and register Setiawangsa as a Low Carbon Zone
- Government buildings (offices, schools, etc) or Community buildings (market, halls, library, etc) to be registered as a Low Carbon Partner
- This will establish a baseline for Setiawangsa to facilitate data driven strategies and decisions
5. Work with Partners for Showcase / Demonstration / Pilot Projects
Ekosetiawangsa will work with our partners to explore various sustainability potentials in Setiawangsa such as:
- Rumah Ibadat Hijau (RIH) with MGTC
- Pasar Malam Lestari with MGTC
- Community Urban Garden concept with URBANICE
- Carbon Score with MalaysiaGBC
- Recycling Collection Centre with Alam Flora
- Reverse Vending Machine with KLEAN
- E-Waste Recycling Collection with ERTH
- First Mile – Last Mile Mobility as a Service with Kumpool
- Safe Street Concept with Bike Commute Malaysia
- Kebun Kejiranan and Compost Ring with DBKL (LA21KL) and Green Strides
- Used Cooking Oil Recycling with FatHopes
- Used Cooking Oil Kiosk with Patsber
- Rainwater Harvesting projects with NAHRIM
- Rooftop solar panel for Setiawangsa residents with GSPARX
- Drinking water stations with SPAN & Air Selangor
- Community activities with Friends of Bukit Dinding (FoBD)
